We’re big fans of Twitter here at Arc90. We use it to share choice quotes or just talk about whatever. Hell, there are even people out there wiring Twitter up to their ovens.
Of course, one of the most popular uses of Twitter is to share a link to a Web page. To that end, we wanted a tool that provided a dead simple way to share a link out via Twitter while surfing the Web.
So we got to thinking: “Wouldn’t it be cool to tweet a page in just a few clicks? Also, wouldn’t it be cool to see what others are saying about the page on Twitter?” After the success of Readability, we figured we’d dust off our mad bookmarklet skillz (Firefox extensions are nice, but we wanted everybody to join the fun) and take a crack at coming up with something cool.
Fast forward a couple of weeks, and you’ve got TBUZZ:
We’ve been using TBUZZ within Arc90 for a few days now and it’s a lot of fun. We’ve found it’s the easiest way to tweet about a link you’ve come across. It’s also a really cool way to chat with others about the page you’re staring at – through Twitter. It’s sort of like dropping a comment thread onto every Web page in existence.
You can install TBUZZ in just a few seconds by visiting:
http://tbuzz.arc90.com
If you’ve got any feedback, thoughts (or glowing reviews) of TBUZZ, be sure to include them in the comments below.

Really useful for Twitter users, definitely, but also really interesting for content providers / blog authors / etc to see what people are saying about their content. Fascinating stuff.

I’m amazed by the great work you’ve done. I also like the SQLWatcher. Now I just need to enable service broker on my sql servers!

A very good idea.
My only suggestion would be to put a bit more emphasis on the fact that this is basically a global comment system for every page on the internet.
It could very well end up being a replacement for the simply-awful blog comments.
Anyway, if the internet has taught me anything is that people will find the best way to use whatever product you’ve created, no matter what you thought the purpose for said product will be.
(The only downside to this becoming a global comment system, is twitter’s 140 character limit — when commenting on a 20 thousand words essay, one may be forgiven for wanting to respond in ever so slightly more than 140 measly little characters.)
Again, great idea.
I’m very curious to see how this tool ends up being used.

I am having an issue with the update??
Just does not do it, everything else seems to work fine i.e refresh, close, convert link to bit.ly, etc; just will not update!

Great work guys, I was actually trying to get something similar up and running on Google App Engine (http://conceptbuzz.appspot.com/). At this stage, I’m taking a slightly different tack but it’s got the same “smell” to it.
If you want to bash heads sometime about this kind of stuff then let me know.
Once again – great work.
Cheers,
Damon.

Bug report: when submitting a tweet containing an ampersand, tbuzz cuts off the part after it.
Great tool!

@ Thomas and Ronald – we have an issue with the ampersand, working on a patch fix now. Thanks.

@Thomas: thanks, that’s on our radar, we’ll fix it soon.

Hi – I tried to comment on the TBuzz page but got this error:

Anyhow, I wanted to suggest that somewhere on its page you should have 1 or 2 of the tasty phrases you used in the video … the better to Tweet about TBuzz!

Great tool. Easy to use. Only wish it could handle multiple accounts as I have to tweet from different ones depending on topic.

Great tool. One issue I found on my first try: Nothing happened when I hit the button on a friend’s blog: http://www.toadstoolblog.com/ (He’s the one he showed me this tool, so I wanted to honor him with the first bookmark, but nothing happened.) Worked everywhere else.

Fantastic — you’ve done it again!
Two thoughts:
First, while bit.ly is a good choice, I’m on a bit of an ow.ly kick right now since they allow easy retweeting. And there are so many great url shrinkers out there. Would it be possible to allow a selection of services, or customization?
Second, @Gabriel Coarna above makes a great point that TBUZZ enables comments on every web page via twitter, but it’s only available for people with the TBUZZ bookmarklet installed. How about a widget button I can put in a website’s theme so with a click the reader can view tweets about each page?
Thanks again for your great work with Readability and now TBUZZ!
Cheers,
Andy

Excellent app. I’m loving it, and tweeting about it and generally talking it up!
Question: I have now got two twitter accounts (personal and business) and would love to use tbuzz for both of them. Is there a way that I can remain logged in to both, and use different shortcuts to tweet to different accounts? Or am I limited by only being able to be logged in to one account at a time?
John Boatwright said:
Fantastic work guys, really love it. Also your Readability bookmarklet has become indispensable to me.
One note about TBuzz though, I wish there were a way for the bit.ly shortened url to be part of my history on my bit.ly account.

Great!
Hey, here is a PROBLEM: here in Brazil we use migre.me (not only bit.ly) to shorten the URL. So I cannot see the buzz on my own website…
How do you think it’s possible to overcome this problem?
Thanks!

Hey, Love your tool!
I have a feature request. Is there any way that we could tie our own Bit.ly account to the tbuzz script so we could track our clicks. Or even better attack our own su.pr account for the same reason… that would be absolutely freakin amazing.

The BUZZ region is really fantastic. But I cannot tweet from TBuzz when logged in. The Update button doesn’t seem to work. I tried it in Firefox and Chrome.

Any chance to have a choice of URL shorteners? I avoid bit.ly shortlinks, as they are very slow.

This is terrific. Can we ever expect a fbuzz (facebook) or tumbuzz (tumblr)? Twitter just doesn’t do it for a lot of us, plus the character limit. This sort of thing for other services would be awesome.
