Socializing and Innovating with Kindling

By Rich Ziade

Very often, the tools we create are tangible manifestations of our culture and beliefs. Arc90 always strives to be the sort of place where you can crash a whiteboard with an idea. As we started to grow, it became tougher to scale up that culture of brainstorming and collaboration. Before we knew it (and without much planning or forethought) an internal tool was built to help us share and disseminate ideas: Kindling.

Fast forward to today and Kindling has grown up into a full-featured app that seeks to connect people to the right ideas within companies. Companies like Symantec, Leapfrog and many others take advantage of Kindling to share and collaborate on ideas.

As Kindling evolved, our goal has remained constant: to create a well-designed and approachable tool to share and orbit around ideas. Unlike many enterprise tools and services, we wanted to eliminate the training and overhead that often precedes any real engagement.

Today we’re seeing that same culture of innovation and lateral thinking that galvanized the ideas with Arc90 crop up elsewhere. As we peek into Kindling’s future, we’re incredibly excited about how the app evolves. With an even greater emphasis on ease-of-use and an appreciation for people being the real currency behind innovation, Kindling 3—due out soon—will bring that vision into even starker focus.

We ought to commemorate the occasion—and buy some more whiteboards.
